Independent (and Free) Healthcare Policy Resources
This is going to be a big year for healthcare policy, especially with respect to Radiation Oncology.
I predict you will see an increasing number of mainstream journal publications, blog posts, podcasts, and webinars about payments for radiation oncology services, telemedicine, episodic payment models (i.e. ROCR), and maybe even supervision.
The good news is that excellent, independently created educational content about policy is exploding. Given that policy topics are complex and mainstream positions can be debatable, it’s in your best interest to learn from a range of voices in the field.
Here are some excellent resources I’ve used lately:
Value Health Voices Podcast - Radiation Oncologists Drs. Rewari and Parvati have a lot of experience working on health policy in our field. They do a great job of covering basic concepts related to current policy events.
Radiation Medicine: Dollars and Sense Substack - Blog from TAP co-host Dr. Parikh featuring excellent writing on a range of policy topics.
Protons 101 - Radiation Oncologist and proton therapy expert Dr. Storey also has an excellent Substack that covers some policy topics. He hasn’t written in a little while though… come back Mark!
Out.Of.The.Basement Podcast - Radiation Oncologist Dr. Beckta covers a range of policy topics. Here are a few episodes I loved to get you started!
Conflicts of interest among ROCR architects, also available as a 15 minute Cliff’s notes podcast.
ACRO Policy Updates Newsletter (free with membership) - A monthly policy newsletter put out by Liberty Partners, ACROs lobby collaborator. I believe residents can still get a free membership to ACRO.
